Selby shoppers got their first chance to see inside the Marks & Spencer Foodhall which opened at the Three Lakes Retail Park today (Thursday).
M&S has invested £4 million in the opening, which will create 79 jobs.
Customer Patricia Harris, celebrating her 78th birthday, cut the ribbon alongside store manager Amy Johnston and staff.
And M&S favourite Percy Pig was on hand to greet the first shoppers.
The store features a bakery with a selection of fresh breads and pastries baked throughout the day.
There’s also a dedicated M&S wine shop, a flower shop and click and collect for online clothing, home and beauty orders.
Naturally enough at this time of year, M&S has stocked up with Christmas treats.
These include halloumi in blankets with hot honey to the build your own charcuter-tree, along with recently launched choc marks bars and swiss caramel and milk chocolate clouds.
The store will also be showcasing the Magical Snowing Forest and Santa’s Workshop tins.
M&S Selby Three Lakes store manager Amy Johnston said: “Our whole team has been working really hard to deliver this fantastic new M&S Foodhall just in time for Christmas.
“It’s been great to hear from customers how much they love it today.
“We encourage people to come and see for themselves how fantastic the new store is.”
