There was a serious crash in North Yorkshire this afternoon (Wednesday)
It was on the A170 in the Helmsley area. Emergency services are on the scene.
North Yorkshire Police said at 4.34pm: “We are attending a serious collision on the A170 in the outskirts of Helmsley (on the Thirsk side).

“There is heavy traffic in the area – please avoid while the emergency services work at the scene.”
Witnesses say the collision involves a motorbike and a car.
It was said to be “near the bridge where the footpath goes into the wood on the right hand side”.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to the scene.
The crash has now been cleared and traffic is back to normal.
