If you or your pets are not looking forward to the loud bangs that come with fireworks then this York pub might be for you.
The Carlton Tavern on Acomb Road is hosting a safe haven for dogs to escape Bonfire Night tomorrow (Tuesday, 5 November).
They are even offering treats for the furry friends to keep them happy throughout the night.
Manager at The Carlton Linford Gardner told YorkMix: “I have dogs myself and I struggle to get them settled on Bonfire Night and I wanted to offer a place for others to help calm their dogs.
“It can be a difficult night for pet owners, so it is for them too, not just the dogs. All dogs are welcome if they are friendly.”
The pub’s plan is a “godsend” says tourist, Jennifer Sirett.
“I am in York visiting my daughter and we both have dogs who hate fireworks. Calming them down is always a hassle but this is a godsend to find at such short notice.”

Safety risk warning
Meanwhile, the Environment Agency is urging those planning to celebrate Bonfire Night to go to an organised event – or risk fines.
Bonfires come with safety risks and if the wrong materials are burned it can harm the environment, wildlife, and human health.
If you are holding your own bonfire event the Environment Agency is advising not to burn wet wood, household waste like glass, rubber, plastic, oil, and metal.
Materials such as these can cause black smoke and create fires that quickly become out of control.
As well as the nuisance and the risk of burning general waste it is illegal and can carry a fine of up to £50,000.
Ben Shayler from the Environment Agency said: “We want people to have fun on Bonfire Night – but to do so safely and in a way that won’t create a risk to the environment, wildlife, you and your neighbours.”
If you witness a bonfire, you think may contain hazardous materials there is a 24-hour helpline to contact the Environment agency at 0800 807060.
