Reconnect with nature and forage for culinary treasures in this immersive event coming to a York hotel.
Aldwark Manor Estate, York, is offering an opportunity for guests to explore the 200 acre estate with a foraging expert.
Join expert forager Diana Hammil from Wild Harvest School on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 November for a guided journey through the luxury hotel’s landscapes.
You’ll learn how to identify wild plants, herbs, mushrooms, and berries and how to use them as ingredients in your cooking. Find edible flowers, search for spices and root for roots – the flavours are all around you.
The outdoor experience will also include an overnight stay at Aldwark Manor, a gourmet dining experience in Elements restaurant, and a traditional Yorkshire breakfast the following morning – making it the ultimate nature retreat, from £149 per person.
The foraging experience is also available as a day package for £45, which includes a delicious cream tea.
Diana Hammill from Wild Harvest School says: “Having visited Aldwark Manor Estate for the first time recently to prepare for the event, I was amazed by the expansive, well-maintained grounds and the connection guests have with nature here.
“I discovered a wealth of edible plants and trees, including birch trees for vitamin-rich sap, thistles for stir-fries, and Hogweed, which brings a unique spice to sweet and savoury dishes.
“I’m eager to showcase the natural abundance that this exceptional estate offers during this event.”
