It’s a month to go until the York Christmas Market returns – here’s everything you need to know.
It’s only four weeks until the beloved Christmas market is back on Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square, from Thursday 14 November to Sunday 22 December.
There will be 75 alpine chalets offering a variety of food and drink, artisan products and thoughtful gifts – with 80% of the businesses being Yorkshire based.
As is the case for every year, consideration for environmental sustainability and accessibility is a ‘top priority’, with sustainable traders prioritised.
Food and drink is always a highlight, and traders for 2024 include award-winning chef Tommy Banks’ pies, Millers Fish & Chips, and York’s master distillers such as York Gin and Ellers Farm Distillery. See the full list of traders here.
And you can save some pennies too as Christmas Market traders are offering an exclusive 10% discount resident offer! Simply present a valid York Card or identity card that proves York residency.
Alongside the main Christmas market, don’t miss the Yorkshire Yuletide Village located at The Guildhall – where some of the region’s finest designer-makers will be showcasing their creations.
Thor’s will also be back at York Museum Gardens this year, where visitors can enjoy festivities from Friday 25 October.
The York Christmas Market aims to be a welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone – and have put special measures in place to ensure that this is possible.
These include ‘Quiet time’ where no music will be played daily between 10am and 12pm, the ‘Take A Seat Initiative‘ which allows those to rest who need it, and the ‘Safe Space Scheme‘ which is a community of businesses that provide a safe and secure place for women to go to if they feel under threat in any way.
Sarah Loftus, managing director of Make It York, said: “We are excited to welcome everyone back to our enchanting Christmas Market.
“Our dedicated team has been hard at work to create a festive, welcoming, and safe environment where everyone can share in the holiday spirit. We can’t wait to celebrate the season with you all!”
The countdown to Christmas is officially on!
