A York bridge has reopened after a closure of more than three hours this afternoon (Friday).
Ouse Bridge was closed in both directions due to a public safety incident at around midday.
Police and fire engines blocked both ends of the bridge. Pedestrians were being let through, but only on one side.
Ambulance personnel were also on the scene. The York Rescue Boat volunteers were scrambled and in a boat on the River Ouse.
A person was on the wrong side of the bridge, on the King’s Staith side.
However, that person has now been brought to safety. The emergency services have been stood down and the road has reopened.
