It’s the tastiest time of the year – as York Food Festival is back!
The festival has kicked off today for ten days of delectable delights, with street food stalls, marketplace, exciting workshops, top-rated chefs, live music, and plenty of family fun.
The York Food and Drink Festival is at Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square from Friday 20 to Sunday 29 September.
York’s Town Crier, Ben Fry, declared the festival open this morning and the Lord Mayor of York will open the Food Factory activities at 2pm today (Friday).
Some activities and events will also take place in locations like the Museum Gardens and St Crux Hall.
Some of the festival highlights include the popular Food Factory, where visitors can try their hand at bread making, pasta making, vegan dips and more – and YorkMix‘s Laura and Mixie the Monster will be there at St Crux next week to lend a helping hand!
There’ll be nine days of live music and entertainment with Live for St Leonard’s, Great British Bake Off star Freya Cox will be in the demonstration tent, and much more.

“It’s great to animate the city centre at a time when summer’s coming to an end and everybody’s back at school,” said festival director, Michael Hjort. “I think that’s widely appreciated by people.
“Possibly the most exciting part is the engagements we do for families, adults, children, primary school kids, through midweek – and for the first time we’ve got scouts and guides groups showing up as well.
“There’s a lot going on and it’s always great fun.”
The York Food festival is open until Sunday 29 September.
