He’s the French master patissier who fell in love with North Yorkshire, wowed the royals, and regularly appears on TV.
And now Florian Poirot is bringing his magic touch to York.
Florian, who runs his own patisserie in Malton, plans to open a new shop in a long empty property on Shambles.
Number 19 was previously home to the Geek Outlet retailer, and before that to The Gift Company.
Plans in with City of York Council would see it converted into a Florian Poirot pattiserie.
The works involved include a new shop sign on the front, a new hanging sign on the existing bracket, an installation of kitchen units and sink, and window stickers.

Florian is a pastry chef from Nancy, a city in North Eastern of France. At the age of 14, he joined Nancy Culinary School and achieved a ‘Master in Pastry and Confectionery’.
After moving to Yorkshire he became the UK Pastry Champion.
In the Malton shop he sells macarons, cakes, chocolates, pastries and other treats.
It was visited last year by the King and Queen. Queen Camilla tasted a lemon bergamot macaron, saying it was “tres bien”.
His creations have been featured on TV programmes including the James Martin Show and Great Yorkshire Life.
Florian will be back in York for the Food and Drink Festival next month. And if his plans get the go-ahead, he will be a permanent fixture here soon.
