One man was arrested and another suffered facial injuries followed an alleged confrontation in the centre of York late on Sunday.
Police were called to reports of an altercation on Bridge Street at around 10.30pm.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A local man, who is aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening facial injuries.

“A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
“Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation are urged to come forward.”
An area at the junction of Bridge Street, Skeldergate, Micklegate and North Street was taped off for several hours as police carried out their investigation.
