The city will come alive with music, dance and fashion this weekend as community festival returns.
The Our City Festival is back for its third year – and continues to bring together York residents, groups and communities for a day of free family-friendly fun.
It will take place on Saturday 29 June from 11am to 4pm at York Explore Library.
There will be a whole host of performances happening all day, including from the York Latino Band, Café Nord, and York Ukraine Together.
Irina Grigore, volunteer coordinator at the Our City Hub, chatted with YorkMix Radio‘s Leigh on the breakfast show to share more about the festival.
“It’s a multi-cultural event that tries to bring all the communities together and celebrate the diversity of York and how inclusive the city is,” she explained.
“This year, we are trying to continue our mission of inclusivity through the power of storytelling. I believe York is very diverse but not many communities are visible so we are trying to make them more visible and to share more knowledge of the different communities.
“York is a community with lots of small stories and we’d love to make those stories heard.”
