The Starbucks at the York Community Stadium has shut suddenly.
It had been operating out of the unit next to Cineworld at the Monks Cross complex since the end of 2019.
But the doors are now blacked out and the branding has been removed.
It was an unusual branch, sitting beside the escalators that took people to and from the cinema on the first floor. There was also some seating outside which proved popular during the summer months.
Starbucks York now been removed from the Cineworld website.
A spokesperson for Starbucks told YorkMix: “In partnership with our licensees, we constantly review our portfolio to ensure our stores are in places that are relevant for our customers.
“We can confirm that our store in Monks Cross Shopping Centre, York, operated by Cineworld, has closed as of Monday 17 June.
“We would like to thank our customers for their loyalty over the years and let them know can find their nearest store on the Starbucks Store Locator.”
Its demise comes only weeks after a large new café-bar opened next door. The Vallado Lounge Café Bar began trading in April.
However, Starbucks devotees don’t have to go far for a brew. There is still a Starbucks in the main run of the Monks Cross Shopping Park.
And the café chain opened a drive-thru on Stirling Road, Clifton Moor, last December.
Plans for another drive-thru, at the former Four Alls Inn site on Malton Road, with Starbucks the named operator, were granted permission in 2022.
A separate application for Starbucks signage at that location has been withdrawn.
The Cooplands bakery at the same location was granted planning permission in spring.
