A biker died in a crash in North Yorkshire last night (Friday).
The single-vehicle collision happened between junction 57 and junction 56, near Barton, north of Scotch Corner, at about 9.30pm.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “It involved an orange-coloured motorcycle travelling south on the motorway.
“The motorcycle left the carriageway and ended up on the grass verge. Sadly, the male rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The road was closed to allow emergency services to attend to the collision and for investigators to examine the scene.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the motorcycle and its rider prior to collision, may have relevant dashcam footage, or may have witnessed the collision, to get in touch if they have not already spoken to officers.”
