River levels in York are on the rise again as the winter of storms continues.

Storm Jocelyn has brought more high winds overnight, with gusts of more than 80mph in North Yorkshire.

A yellow weather warning for wind is in place until 3pm.

There are more than 100 premises without power due to the storms in North Yorkshire.

City of York Council has flood defences and pumps in place across the city.

Today in York:

  • St George’s Field Car Park and St George’s Field Coach Park are closed
  • Esplanade Car Park is closed
  • Riverside paths are closed
  • Rowntree Park, play area, and car park remain closed.

The rest of the city is open for business.

The Environment Agency said: “River levels are high on the River Ouse due to heavy rainfall associated with Storm Isha, and are expected to rise further from around 5am on Wednesday following Storm Jocelyn.

“Our incident response staff are closing flood gates and checking defences.”

The weather is having a major effect on train travel. LNER says there are speed restrictions across the East Coast Mainline, while tree falls and flooding are causing disruption.
