A main road north of York that was closed by a crash for most of the day today (Wednesday) has reopened.
The collision happened on the A59 at Hessay close to the junction with New Road.
The AA reported there was slow traffic in both directions.
The RAC reported: “Road blocked and queueing traffic due to accident
“A59 both ways blocked, queueing traffic due to accident from New Road (North Yorkshire) to Marston Lane (Hessay).”

There were diversions in place. One YorkMix reader said the A59 was fully closed, then a car following the diversion drove into a ditch, temporarily blocking the alternative route.
