YorkMix launched our charity baking calendar today (Monday) – with all proceeds going to help children living in poverty in York and North Yorkshire.
We asked you to send us your favourite baking recipes, and you sure delivered! The best of the best have made it into our charity baking calendar, so you can make deliciously yummy treats all year.
All profits from the sale of this calendar will go to the YorkMix Toy Appeal, to help children living in poverty in York and North Yorkshire. With thanks to Visit Malton for supporting the calendar and covering the print costs.
The calendar will feature a different recipe each month – including a special recipe from York Great British Bake Off contestant Rowan Claughton. Rowan, who recently graduated from University of York, competed on the beloved baking show this year.
Learn how to make Rowan’s Autumnal Chocolate Cake – “My autumnal cake is most definitely a showstopper for any occasion, and it’s much easier to make than you might think. Made up of my dark chocolate sponge recipe I used in the tent, and layered with a spiced Swiss meringue buttercream and caramel, this would earn you the title of star baker any day.”
If that’s not enough to tease you, here’s one of the featured recipes to tempt your tastebuds…
Ruth’s Chocolate Tiffin
Ingredients
- 400g Digestive biscuits
- 125g Butter
- 75g Raisins
- 3 tbsp Cocoa powder
- 185g Golden syrup
- 150g Milk Chocolate
- 30g White Chocolate
Instructions
- Crush the biscuits and mix with the raisins
- Melt the butter, syrup and cocoa powder gently in a saucepan then add to the biscuit mixture.
- Mix well until combined and spoon mixture into a baking tray (19cmx30cm).
- Press down firmly and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
- Melt the milk chocolate and spread evenly over the tiffin.
