A Christmas event in North Yorkshire has been cancelled due to the bad weather.
RHS Garden Harlow Carr has been forced to cancel the Glow event scheduled for tonight (Saturday 9 December) due to the forecast of heavy rain and wind.
Thursday’s event (7 December) was also cancelled due to safety risks caused by heavy flooding.
The Glow sees Harlow Carr lit up by illuminated trails and festive lights, including the ‘field of fire’ on the main lawn.
The on-site team has worked hard to restore the lights and any damage from the flooding so that Friday’s Glow went ahead as planned. However, due to the forecast of heavy rain and wind today, today’s event is cancelled.
A spokesperson for the RHS said: “We have made the very difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s Glow event. This is to ensure the safety of all our visitors, staff and volunteers, which remains our top priority.
“We would like to offer our sincere apologies for the inconvenience and disappointment this is likely to cause and we thank you for your understanding.
“We would like to invite all customers who had booked for the event on Saturday 9 December to join us on another evening of your choice.”
