A new dining experience is coming to a York shopping centre.
Fast-growing hospitality chain Loungers is set to open one of its Lounge café bars at Vangarde.
It plans to open at Unit R4A at Vangarde Leisure, which is part of the stadium development.
“A Lounge is a neighbourhood café-bar combining elements of a restaurant, British pub and coffee shop culture,” the website says.
“As of November 2023, there are over 200 Lounges nationwide.”
The parent company, Loungers Plc, says it plans to open 400 more.
There are already Lounge venues in Selby, Northallerton and Harrogate.
The company also runs the Cosy Club and Brightside brands, including the popular Cosy Club branch on Fossgate in York.
Loungers’ last set of six-monthly results saw it make £150m, 24% ahead of pre-Covid levels.
The York Lounge wants to open from 8am till 12.30am. Every Lounge offers all-day dining, with the same menu served from 9am and 10pm daily.
Each menu includes breakfast and brunch, and its lunch and evening dishes include burgers, buttermilk chicken and tapas.
Soft drinks range from tea and coffee to milkshakes and lemonade. They also serve a range of beer, wine and cocktails.
The Bristol-based company began as a shared project between friends. “Established in 2002, Loungers is an award-winning, all-day neighbourhood café-bar and dining business,” the company said.
“Co-founded by three friends – Alex Reilley (chairman), Jake Bishop (commercial director) and David Reid, wanting to create a neighbourhood café-bar they would want to go to, it has grown rapidly since its inception.”
If you fancy working there, the company is advertising three roles for the York Lounge on its website, including an “exciting opportunity for a head chef to join this new opening”.
There are also jobs for an assistant manager and sous chef. You can find out more and apply here.
