This was the scene outside York’s newest store this morning, nearly an hour and a half before it opened.
Søstrene Grene will fling its doors open for the first time at 10am today (Friday, 24 November).
The Danish homewear and gift shop is planning a big first day. The first 100 customers will receive a free large, tufted rug, and the first 150 customers will get a canvas goodie bag.
Staff will be serving light refreshments and string musicians will serenade shoppers.
The store, which has branches in 14 countries across Europe, has all its Christmas range out and ready to go.
Its range includes stationery, toys, candles, coasters and party items.
