Even though there was no official Christmas light switch on event in York city centre this year, there are still plenty of places around York and North Yorkshire to see some festive light switch on action.
So gather your family and friends – put on a Christmas hat and join us for some Christmassy fun. You can join us at these events…
Norton Christmas Light Switch On
Join us for the Norton Christmas Light Switch On, with live band, hot food and drinks, children’s rides, stalls in library, and Santa and his Sleigh arriving at 4pm for the big Switch On at 4.30pm.

Haxby Christmas Light Switch On
Join us at Haxby for their Christmas Light Switch On. With two trees to be lit one outside the Memorial Hall and the 2nd outside the green at approximately 6pm. With carol singing from Generation Groove and the community choir, and refreshments provided by Haxby Town Council outside Millers Fish & Chips. Kindly supported by our event sponsors First York.

Acomb Christmas Light Switch On and Market
On Front Street in Acomb, their Christmas market will be taking place all day with live performances from the Blue Light Theatre group and many more plus games on stage with YorkMix and the lights will go on at 4pm! Kindly supported by our event sponsors First York.

The Poppleton Santa Dash for the Millie Wright Children’s Charity
Come in Santa Suits or Christmas Outfits and start at 2pm at the Lord Nelson Pub in Poppleton York. Join in all the Christmas Fun around the Santa trail around the four village pubs in Poppleton and a Christmas Quiz. No entry fee – just turn up and donate as you go. All hosted by YorkMix Radio.
