A fireworks event near York has been cancelled thanks to our exceptionally wet weather.
The Bonfire And Fireworks at Jubilee Park, Fangfoss, was scheduled for Saturday evening (4 November).
It’s a popular annual event, but has been scuppered by the rain – even before the imminent arrival of Storm Ciaran, which has led to a yellow weather warning in our area.
Organisers said in an update that it was due to the ground already being waterlogged.
They wrote: “Due to the heavy rain to date and forecast we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Bonfire and Fireworks this Saturday.
“Please check local press and consider alternative events in Wilberfoss or Stamford Bridge.”
The organisers of Saturday’s Stamford Bridge Community Bonfire and Fireworks have already said that they would welcome people from Fangfoss, and would in return make a donation to Jubilee Park from their ticket sales.
