If approached on a dark night by a clown straight out of a horror movie, most people would run a mile.
But not Halloween fan Jo!
Which was lucky, because the clown was actually her boyfriend Pete, preparing to propose to her at Hallowscream in York.
Pete had approached the multi-award winning scream park, based at Elvington, to see if they would help in his plan to ask Jo to marry him. And they were delighted to help.
Tom Pearcy, owner of York Maze Hallowscream, said: “When Pete contacted us to see if we could help with his proposal, we discussed various ideas including Corny The Clown delivering the ring on the end of his chainsaw and the butcher in the Flesh Pot slaughterhouse pulling it out of a rotten pie.

“We even discussed the option of our zombie priest getting involved.
“Although Jo is a Halloween fan it was decided these may be going a bit too far and in the end the Pete dressing as one of our horror clowns was the idea we went with.
“Thankfully Jo didn’t run off screaming before Pete had chance to reveal his true identity and pop the question.
“Who know they may even choose to have the wedding at York Maze!”
Happily, this horror show had a happy ending – and Jo said yes!
Hallowscream is sold out for Halloween tonight (Tuesday). But tickets are still available for its final two nights, Friday 3 and Saturday 4 November.
