Who knew historic York is now a trendy fashion hub? Well, it certainly is. And Fashion City York is here to show us all how it’s done with a series of special events this weekend, May 17-18 2014.
So don your favourite gear, perhaps watch a fashion flash mob or two in St Sampson’s Square and don’t forget to pick up a bargain on York’s high street…
What is Fashion City York?
“We’re a friendly steering group of volunteers trying to help promote the incredible range of fashion talent in York, through regular events and collaborative projects in the city,” says the group’s marketing expert Lesley Barlow.
Fashion City York’s inaugural weekend took place in April 2011 to plenty of positive feedback from visitors and retailers.
This year a group of volunteers took up the mantle, led by chairperson Angela Horner, director of Browns department stores.
“York has a truly fantastic selection of shops, homegrown fashion talent offering something for every fashion-savvy shopper and we wanted to talk the talk and walk the Fashion City York Walk,” said Lesley.
“Today, Fashion City York is delighted to have the generous support of many high street names that represent big brands.”
