It’s one of the most important books in the history of English literature. And you can learn more about Shakespeare’s First Folio at a free event on Tuesday (May 13).
Experts from the University of York will offer an in-depth look into this remarkable tome at the Yorkshire Museum.
Professor Brian Cummings will explore the history and context of the first folio. Then Professor Judith Buchanan will talk on The Shakespeare First Folio and Shakespeare Quartos: the case of one play.
Amy Baggaley, Yorkshire Museum learning manager, said: “This is a rare opportunity for people to gain some real insight into the history of this fascinating book which brought Shakespeare’s drafted, unfinished works to life after his death in 1616 and, without which, we would not have had the likes of Macbeth, Twelfth Night and The Tempest ever make it to the stage.”
