The High Speed Train (HST) or InterCity 125, which revolutionised travel from North Yorkshire to London in the late Seventies, has left the area for the final time.
Although LNER stopped using them on the East Coast Main Line services between York, Edinburgh and Kings Cross in 2019, the HST has continued to be used by CrossCountry Trains between York and the South West until now.
No more will the iconic train arrive in York as the Department for Transport orders them to be scrapped, leaving complaints that the shorter Voyager trains will not be able to cope with the numbers travelling on the route to Birmingham, Bristol and Plymouth.
York based rail photographer Jonathan Morley captured these images of the HST in it’s final week of operation on the East Coast Main Line at York.
