A new wine bar and café has just opened in York.
Quinns Wine Café and Kitchen has opened in Haxby Shopping Centre after an intensive 12-week transformation.
The team behind it have a long and impressive track record in the York hospitality industry.
Directors Amy Dallin, Leann Williams and Eileen Goodwin worked together for 15 years running the hugely popular Plonkers wine bar in York city centre.
They sold Plonkers a year ago and have been working on Quinns ever since.
“The building has taken us 12 weeks to renovate,” Amy told YorkMix. “We have done a complete overhaul and everything has been done to a very high standard.”
Also on the Quinns team are Mia Morris and Oliver Stubbs, who has 22 years cheffing experience.
For the café experience, Quinns offers Hasbean Coffee, plus pastries, cakes and bread from Bluebird Bakery, and sourdough from Cosgriff and Sons on Tower Street.
There’s granola and açai bowls for breakfast. Sharing boards, including cheese and charcuterie and fish, are served all day.
Amy said: “We have a fantastic local wine supplier so are offering wines from 12pm every day and have a large range of white, red, rose and sparkling by the glass.
“We have a really relaxed, casual dining vibe with warm mood lighting, candle lit tables and good music.”
Quinns is named after “‘the infamous ‘nanny Quinn’,” Amy explained. “That’s Eileen’s mum and nanny to everyone!”
The wine café and kitchen is running a limited menu to begin with. Opening hours will be:
- Monday: closed
- Tuesday: 9am-7pm
- Weds/Thurs/Fri/Sat: 9am-9.30pm
- Sunday: 9-7pm.
And if this goes well? “Who knows, but being optimistic we would love to open a string of Quinn’s wine cafes over Yorkshire!”
