Issued last night (Monday), it says: “River levels are rising steadily on the River Ouse, due to recent rainfall.

“Flooding is possible at riverside footpaths and low-lying land in York and to the south as far as Naburn Lock, including Kings Staith, Queens Staith, and South Esplanade from 6.30pm on Monday.

“No further rainfall is forecast. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.”

The River Ouse peaked at 8.30pm last night (Monday, 24 July) at 2.18m – 1.9m is the top of the normal range.

It is forecast to fall again this morning (Tuesday).
