Police want to speak to these two people after thieves targeted a disabled man’s mobility trike.
As YorkMix reported last Wednesday (19 July), Jamie Wood, a lecturer at the University of York, had secured his specially adapted trike next to his office.
Thieves used an angle grinder to cut off the £150 lock. They also removed a tracker fitted to the Jorvik Elite blue e-trike before riding off with it.
It was the second time Prof Wood’s mobility trike was stolen. The first one was taken, again from outside his office at the biology department, on 5 June.
That was eventually recovered, albeit damaged and with parts missing. After the second theft, Prof Wood told YorkMix that he feared he was being targeted.
He has secondary progressive multiple sclerosis and relies on the heavily modified bike to get around as he can’t walk far.
And it is a vital part of his therapeutic exercise regime.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The trike was adapted for use by its owner and was stolen from the biology campus at around 1.30pm.
“It is the second time a similar trike has been stolen in the past few weeks.
“Officers would like to speak to the two people in the images as they may have important information that could assist the investigation.”
