Despite threatening clouds, the annual carnival in Copmanthorpe was success this weekend – Saturday 1 July 2023.
Raising funds for the Copmanthorpe Recreational Centre, there was much dance, music, fun and games for kids of all ages.
There were performances and live music from lots of local groups such as Blaze Dance York, Jazzy J’s Dance Academy, and Miles and the Chain Gang, as well as family fun with the Frei Compagnie reenactment group, zorbing, fairground rides, and more.
There were also local stalls offering everything from home-made jewellery and baked goods to dog treats and wooden decorations. And there was tempting street food delights from Yuzu, Shiok and Yorkshire Crackling Hog Roast, to name a few.
Despite a quick rain shower, the day was full of fun and a great atmosphere – and was fantastic to see so many families enjoying the day.
And of course YorkMix Radio were there hosting and provided lots of fun, with quizzes and games with goodie-bags and prizes up for grabs.
Copmanthorpe Recreational Centre provides football, cricket and tennis facilities for the public. They also have a bowling green and a children’s playground.
