Family fun and gift giveaways are promised when a new shop opens at a York shopping centre later this month.
The Toys ‘R’ Us shop inside WHSmith at Monks Cross will open at 9am on Saturday, 10 June.
And it will hold a ‘grand opening event’ between 9am and 1pm.
YorkMix first revealed the famous Toys ‘R’ Us brand was making a comeback in York last month.
The shop’s famous mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe will join the WHSMith team for an official ribbon cutting when the store opens, before greeting visitors to the store throughout the morning.
And the first 75 children visiting the store will also receive a free Toys ‘R’ Us goody bag worth more than £20.
Found inside the existing WHSmith, the Monks Cross Toys ‘R’ Us will sell top toys including Barbie, Bluey, Fisher Price, Hot Wheels, Lego, Marvel, Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, Playmobil and Star Wars.
Children will be able to try out the latest products and play with toys at the demonstration tables in store.
A life-size Geoffrey the Giraffe sculpture, great for photo opportunities, will also feature in the new Toys’R’Us shop-in-shop, and a Sylvanian Families character will be making an appearance at the grand opening too!
Monks Cross Retail Park in York is the first of nine WHSmith High Street stores to open a new Toys ‘R’ Us shop-in-shop, with further openings this summer in locations including Oxford, Reading and Cheltenham.
