A woman was rescued from the River Ouse in York after an operation involving all the emergency services.
Police, ambulance and fire crews went to Ouse Bridge at about 11am this morning (Tuesday).
It was sealed off to both traffic and pedestrians.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Police requested fire attendance due to a female sat on the parapet of Ouse Bridge over the river on the wrong side of the railings.
“Fire resources from York, Acomb, Ripon, Malton and Selby attended including the fire rescue boat and the volunteer York Rescue Boat was also requested.
“One female rescued from the river through a combination of the fire and volunteer boats. Female left in care of police and ambulance.”
Traffic at the Micklegate end of the bridge was diverted down Skeldergate while the bridge were closed.
King’s Staith and Queen’s Staith Road were also sealed off during the rescue.
Both the bridge and the riverside then reopened.
