A major rescue operation rescued a woman from the river in York early this morning.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the Ouse riverside at 1.21am today (Wednesday).
Witnesses told YorkMix the woman had entered the water at Lendal Bridge.
She was pulled out of the water near King’s Staith close to Ouse Bridge.
A York Rescue Boat spokesperson said: “The team were called out by North Yorkshire Police at 1.26am to reports of a person in the water near Lendal Bridge in York.
“Our team worked alongside North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service York station boat crew to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
“Person handed into the care of Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust.”
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “York, Acomb, Selby and Malton crews responded to rescue a female in the River Ouse.”
