Calling all Beatles fans – do you want to own a unique piece of mop top memorabilia?
A North Yorkshire sale house has a fantastic lot on sale – a handwritten letter from Paul McCartney.
Lot 460 is “a Paul McCartney signed hand written letter in black ink, purportedly to John Lennon and Mia Farrow” according to Ryedale Auctioneers, based in Kirkbymoorside.
Paul’s signature has been verified and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It will be auctioned later this month.
The letter appears to date from the time when the Beatles had travelled to India to take part in a transcendental meditation training course with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in early 1968.
Paul was there with his girlfriend Jane Asher.
Film star Mia Farrow was another celebrity to go there, along with sister Prudence and brother John. Lennon wrote the song Dear Prudence for Prudence Farrow while at the retreat.
In the letter, Paul writes: “Hello John + Mia, Everything here is still going very well, we do miss you though, George and Ringo have both done five hours, but we’ve only done 2 hours we’re hoping to do longer ones before we leave.
“The weather here is very warm. Jane loves it no complaints about the mosquitoes, I think though the Maharishis gonna build a swimming pool! Much love see you soon! Paul McCartney”.
The letter is part of a Collectables sale on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 May, with a viewing day on Thursday 18 May.
Another eye-catching lot is a signed pre-1948 photo of Marilyn Monroe, before she turned into the blonde bombshell movie megastar. It is signed in blue ink ‘Love & Kisses Marilyn Monroe’, comes with its own certificate of authenticity, and has an estimate of £3,000-£5,000.
