The British Army’s national charity is bringing its favourite meal, curry, back to Yorkshire – in a fundraising lunch event.
For 15 years, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity has hosted The Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch at the Guildhall, London, which has raised nearly £3 million. But this year they’re heading to York!
The Yorkshire Big Curry Lunch will be held at the historic Merchant Adventurers’ Hall on Thursday 1 June.
It will host over 300 guests during two banquet-style lunch sittings in the Great Hall, with unlimited curry, beer and soft drinks on offer.
Lieutenant Colonel Barney Barnbrook, regional director for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, said “Curry is a staple food of the British Army, and also represents the cultural diversity of Yorkshire.
“It seems logical to bring this flagship event to Britain’s historic second city.”
During the event there will also be the opportunity to network with other guests, and there’ll be live music from the Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, and pipers from the Royal Dragoon Guards.
There will also be a live auction and raffle draw.
The event is co-organised with councillor Ashley Mason, and West Yorkshire High Sheriff, Zulfi Karim DL, with event partners Burflex Scaffolding Limited.
Tickets for this event are £55 per person. For more information and to purchase your tickets, visit their website here.
