LNER is advising people wanting to travel between York and Newcastle not to travel today after a person died on the East Coast Main Line.
The train company says the line has reopened after emergency services were called to the incident this morning.
It said: “As service recovers, trains between these stations may still be cancelled, delayed or revised.
“Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.
“It is advised that customers do not travel between Newcastle and York today.
“Customers with LNER tickets dated today, Friday 21 April, are able to defer travel to tomorrow, Saturday 22 April. Customers are strongly advised to make a reservation before travelling.”
Passengers can also use their tickets on other operators’ trains, including Grand Centra and CrossCountry.
