Mark, tell us what you do for York Rescue Boat.
I’m a shift manager, one of the call-out managers and a swift water technician. This means I work with the flood team to assist the national call-out system. We get called out by the police and fire services and through our system we call out the rest of our team.
What does the training involve for York Rescue Boat?
We have a recruiting programme that goes on for about 6 months so we are always looking for new recruits. We teach them about water safety and we do the education side of things where we go to schools and teach them water safety and awareness.
