Travellers were facing disruption to their journeys tonight (Thursday) after trespassers on the tracks caused all lines north of York to be blocked.
The problems were first reported at 7.50pm.
It means the tracks are temporarily closed while the authorities investigate and clear the tracks.
National Rail said: “A trespass incident between York and Thirsk means all lines between these stations are blocked.
“As a result, trains running between York and Northallerton may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.”
The disruption was expected to last until 9.30pm.
