The YorkMix Tonne of Tins appeal, which we have been running with Yorkshire Profiles Ltd, has collected its first tonne of tins.
The appeal, which has been running on radio, on our news site and on our social media, was set up to help local foodbanks.
During these difficult times with prices rising everywhere, foodbanks have been under huge pressure often having to go out to pay for more stock to keep up with demand.
Leigh and Laura from the YorkMix Radio Breakfast Club made the announcement earlier today (Thursday)
YorkMix Radio Managing Director, David Green, said he was delighted with the news that you had donated a tonne and that the target was reached in a month too!
“So many people have dug deep to help the appeal even though times are tough for almost everyone.
“It’s a huge amount of food for the foodbanks” He said.
“I know that everyone at the foodbanks are so grateful. They really need your help to keep ahead of the demand for help”
The Tonne of Tins appeal is continuing and you can find out more about how you can help here at YorkMix.
