A stretch of York river has been reopened after an investigation into a possible obstruction.
Vessels were not allowed along the River Ouse for two hours after a steel pontoon was reported to have sunk.
The restriction affected the river from the Millennium Bridge to the A64 road bridge.
The Canal & River Trust issued this notice at 11am today (Wednesday, 25 January):
“We have received reports that a steel pontoon has sunk mid channel.
“Navigation is closed until we can locate the obstruction. We will update the notice as soon as we have more information.”
At 12.50pm, the trust issued this update:
“The navigation is now open, investigations have taken place and the report of an obstruction is incorrect.
“Thank you for your patience.”
