Two flood warnings are in force for York tonight (Sunday).
They were issued this afternoon by the government’s floodline service.
The first flood warning is for riverside properties by the Ouse in York.
It applies to properties on King’s Staith and riverside areas through York from Lendal Bridge to Millennium Bridge.
According to the Viking Recorder, the river level had reached 3.09m by 7pm, well above the top of the normal range which is 1.9m.
The river is expected to peak at 3.14m at 11.30pm before dropping back tomorrow (Monday, 2 January).
And there’s also a flood warning for the River Ouse at Naburn Lock. This affects lock buildings and cottages.
The river levels downstream reached 7.52m by 6.15pm. The top of the normal range is 6.6m.
There is no rain forecast for tomorrow, but showers are then predicted in York for most of next week.
