There was drama on one of North Yorkshire’s main roads in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Emergency services responded at 1.29am to a car on fire in a ditch next to the A1(M) southbound near Baldersby, Thirsk.
Northallerton and Bedale firefighters were called to the scene by police.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The fire was restricted to the driver’s seat and was extinguished by the fire crews.
“They then assisted police searching for the missing driver.
“No sign of the driver and the cause of the fire not attributed to the road traffic collision.”
