A special service will take place at York Minster on the 24th of November at 10.30am in memory of Andrew Digwood.
Friends and colleagues are invited to join his family in celebrating Andrew’s life.
The service will be followed by refreshments at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, where Andrew was a proud member of the Company.

On the day of his funeral, York Mansion House’s flag will be at half mast as a sign of respect.
A rare honour normally reserved for serving Councillors and Aldermen: A testament to Andrew’s standing and recognising his contribution to York.
He was a lawyer and the former president of York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce. Andrew Digwood, has died.’
Last week, City of York Council councillor Ashley Mason, paid tribute to him saying:
“He was a significant personality in York, one of City of York Council’s climate commissioners, and my Under-Sheriff last year.
“His kind nature, counsel, humour and dedication to York will be a huge loss.”

The reception at the Merchant Adventurers Hall will be followed by a smaller ceremony for close friends and family at York Crematorium at 3:00pm.
His family say: “Whilst Andrew’s illness came as a huge shock to us, in his final weeks, he had an opportunity which is denied to many people; to reflect upon the life he had lived and remember fondly the people he had met.
“There were no grudges, no frustrated ambitions and no bitterness.
“He died comfortable, well loved and at peace.
“He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Please know that his family have seen all of the tributes paid to him so far by post and online, and been deeply moved by them.”
In lieu of flowers, donations are invited to Macmillan Cancer Support, who gave wonderful care to Andrew and his family. A Just Giving page in his memory has been set up. To donate search his name on the Just Giving website to contribute and read the many personal tributes.

Mr Digwood was a formidable advocate for businesses in York and North Yorkshire. His presidency came at the start of the Covid pandemic, and he was a strong voice for the needs of businesses during that challenging period.
He was still interim vice president when he died. Mr Digwood was also a member of the Company of Merchant Adventurers.
He was an associate director of SJP Law, where he specialised in commercial dispute resolution from their law office.
Originally from Accrington, he began his legal training in 1999 with an international law firm, working in their offices in Birmingham and Leeds. In 2004 he moved to York, joining Rollits, where he became a partner, before moving to SJP Law.
He was a dedicated family man and a good friend to many people in the city.
