Police have been tackling a large group of youths after reports of trouble in one area of York.
Last night officers moved in to disperse a large group of young people on Bramham Road.
It comes after reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage in Chapelfields.
After their buses were targeted, First York have suspended services in the area.
Police are asking parents to ensure they know where their children are and that they are not taking part in the ongoing anti-social behaviour.
For the next 48 hours, they will be using their power to disperse people from the area.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “You might see an increased police presence in and around the Chapelfields area over the weekend.
“This is in response to feedback from the local community whereby youths have been involved in anti-social behaviour and criminal damage which has resulted in First York suspending services in the area which is having a negative effect on the entire community.
“The local neighbourhood team are working closely with First York and our partners to ensure that services are back up and running as normal.”
It follows meeting in the summer where Chapelfields residents told police youths were “banging, swearing, kicking fences down and drinking excessively”.
Officers then urged people to report every crime so they could crack down on the perpetrators.
Residents have had enough. Commenting on Facebook, one said: “Can’t believe this. It used to happen years ago.
“Buses daren’t go down Chappy – for goodness sake get a grip of your kids!”
Some say the dispersal orders only move the trouble.
One woman said: “All that happens when you disperse them in Chaplefields is they get the bus to Haxby and cause criminal damage including broken windows and arson and there’s never any police presence on an evening to stop them.”
