The alpine chalet coming to York this Christmas has revealed it has teamed up with a hugely popular city brewer.
As we reported at the beginning of October, The Winter Hütte is a pop-up, two-storey Swiss chalet which will be open on Parliament Street from Thursday 17 November 2022 until Sunday 1 January 2023.
The chalet will have a downstairs bar and a first-floor restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Andrew Pern.

The team behind The Winter Hütte say they are keen to make sustainability and ‘loving local’ a priority.
Johnny Cooper, co-founding partner of The Winter Hütte, said: “Being a local firm we always try to use local contractors, suppliers, and staff to fulfil our jobs and this build is no different.
“We have sourced everything from within the Yorkshire region, reducing mileage for goods to get to us and supporting local businesses along the way.
“The products being offered behind the bar continue this advocacy and we are delighted to announce that we have collaborated with Brew York to bring us all draught beers, ciders and stout for this event.”
Founded in 2016, Brew York is an independently owned, multi award-winning brewery which started life on Walmgate.
Among its quirky and unique beers are Rhubarbra Streisand, a rhubarb milkshake pale ale, and Juice Forsyth – a tropical fruit IPA.

Now Brew York has created Alpine Star especially for The Winter Hütte. It’s described as a “refreshing and easy-drinking light lager”.
Brew York co-founder Wayne Smith said: “We are incredibly proud of our home city, and it’s an honour to be a part of this impressive Christmas signature project in the city centre.
“We brew our beers in the heart of York at our original site on Walmgate and at our state-of-the-art production facility just outside of the centre at Osbaldwick. This means the beers that will be available at The Winter Hütte will be about as fresh and as local as it gets.”

The Winter Hütte will also be partnering with York Gin to supply the ingredients for some specially curated cocktails — including the original London Dry Gin and their Roman Fruit flavour which is featured in the Forest Negroni.
Another addition to the festive menu will be the ‘Edwards Espresso Martini’ — a unique recipe curated by the team at The Elsham Wold Distillery.
The Winter Hütte will be open every day from 17 November from 9.30am until 11pm (closed on Christmas Day).
