A cycle route and footpath in York city centre will be diverted away from its usual route at the end of the month (31 October).
Cinder Lane runs from Wilton Rise to the Marble Arch railway tunnel and links Holgate with the city centre.
It also includes the bridge over the station avoiding lines.
The route across the bridge will stay open but then people will then be directed along a longer diversion that will take you closer to the train station buildings.
The diversion is to allow work to progress on the redevelopment of the York Central site,
It starts on Monday 31 October and signs will be in place to direct users along the new route.
The diversion will be in place up until work in the area is finished around September 2023,
Contractor, John Sisk and Son, there will always be pedestrian and cycle access between Wilton Rise and Leeman Road for residents and commuters.
Long term, the York Central Project will incorporate Cinder Lane in an improved way as an important part of the scheme, we are told.
The railway bridge with its steep steps will also be replaced with something a bit easier to navigate too.
