Smash hit musical Strictly Ballroom is foxtrotting into York next year.
The show features a Strictly-studded cast and creative team – as its directed and co-choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood, and stars former Strictly Come Dancing champion Kevin Clifton.
Kevin won the sixteenth series of Strictly with his celebrity partner Stacey Dooley in 2018.
Strictly Ballroom the Musical is at Grand Opera House York from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 April 2023.
Eastenders star and Strictly Come Dancing finalist Maisie Smith is currently in the cast, but will be leaving the show in March so won’t appear in the show in York. Her replacement has not yet been confirmed.
Based on the film of the same name, Strictly Ballroom the Musical was created by Baz Luhrmann and Craig Pearce – and features iconic songs such as Love is in the Air, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps and Time After Time.
Strictly Ballroom the Musical tells the story of Scott Hastings (Kevin Clifton), a talented, arrogant and rebellious young ballroom dancer. When Scott’s radical dance moves see him fall out of favour with the Australian Federation, he finds himself dancing with Fran, a beginner with no moves at all.
Inspired by one another, this unlikely pair gather the courage to defy both convention and their families – and discover that, to be winners, the steps don’t need to be strictly ballroom…
