Firefighters rescued a person from their smoke-logged home early today (Monday).
At 12.24am, crews from York and Acomb responded to a report of a smoke alarm that had been sounding at a property on Aldborough Way, York.
A concerned neighbour called 999. They had gone to investigate and had seen a pan cooking on the hob with no one around.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews found the property to be heavily smoke logged, and the occupant needed assistance from the ambulance service for smoke inhalation.”
