A riverside success story is set to continue.
Last year, Bosun’s Restaurant opened in the distinctive octagonal building built by York Marine Services next to the river at Bishopthorpe.
Run by Peter Mandy and his daughter Brittany, along with Kerrie Cook and her husband Phil, Bosun’s has enjoyed terrific reviews.
“Fabulous food, fabulous views!” wrote one customer on TripAdvisor last month. “Stunning interior, food and service was fabulous!”
And the team have enjoyed what has been a terrific summer. “What a fantastic place to work!” they wrote on Facebook.
“This summer at Bosun’s has been like living abroad. Sharing our beautiful restaurant with you makes it all worthwhile.”
Now there is an additional bar coming.
York Marine Services has applied to vary its alcohol licence to “add a horsebox within the outside area to use as an outdoor bar”.
The application adds: “Due to flooding issues this would be moved to areas highlighted on the licensing plans and would be solely used for the relocation of the horsebox.”
It would operate for the same hours as the restaurant itself.
