Our pictures show how a demolition team has efficiently removed a landmark York building from the face of the city.
What used to be the striking and colourful Mecca Bingo hall is now a neat pile of rubble on a large empty asphalt footprint.
With the first serious emptying out works starting in early August, there are just a couple of steels still standing today (12 September).
It will make way for a block of 276 student flats.
The new building will be called Rialto House, after the famous cinema and venue that was on the site before it was demolished to make way for the bingo hall.
The Rialto attracted famous stars including the Beatles and Cilla Black in its heyday.
It is intended that students should be able to move into the flats in September 2024.
Here’s how the demolition progressed through the summer till today.
