The Yorkshire Air Ambulance landed in a suburban York park today as it responded to a medical emergency.
People enjoying the sunshine in Glen Gardens, Heworth, were taken by surprise as the helicopter swooped low over nearby houses before landing near the pavilion next to the bowling green.
Don Lodge, who took these photographs, said the downdraft from the helicopter caused the trees to sway.
It is understood the helicopter was called after a person fell ill close to the gardens. In the event the patient was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
