The A64 at Rillington between Malton and Scarborough could be closed for up to 48 hours after Sunday’s incident where a water main burst.
North Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Water were called in as the road flooded. Traffic is now being diverted around the village with some long delays expected again on the journey to and from Scarborough and Filey.
The pictures and video taken today (Monday) come from Max Downing.
Highways Yorkshire says:
“The road is closed in both directions between the B1248 (Scagglethorpe, Norton-on-Derwent) and B1249 (Willerby, Staxton)
“Yorkshire Water have been in attendance to assist in repairing the damaged water main, and our contractors are also on scene to repair the road surface damage.
“The road is expected to be closed for at least 48 hours for emergency repairs to take place.
“Drivers using the area are advised to find alternative routes with diversions signed locally.
